As Theodore approached her, he noticed that her eyes were red and puffy as if she had been crying.
Theodore wondered what was wrong with him; his parents were dead and he hadn’t shed a tear for them.
Didn’t he love them?
Why couldn’t he cry?
How could he be so unfeeling?
Mrs Feilds got up when she saw Theodore and rushed over to him.
“Theodore,” she said,
“I’m so sorry about your Mother and Father.
How are you feeling?
Are you okay?”
“I’m okay I guess,” he said, “it’s just that…..”
Mrs Fields cut him off by saying,
“I know, Theodore.
I know….Have you had lunch yet?”
Theodore shook his head ‘no’.
Mrs Feilds said briskly,
“Come on.
Let’s get you home and get you something to eat.”
